b. 1988, Newton, KS

Artist and designer based in Brooklyn, NY.

I make constructed paintings that balance precision with spontaneity, design thinking with material play. Working with wood panels and acrylic paint mixed with sand, I build each piece through layering and assembly rather than traditional brushwork.

My process moves between control and improvisation. I generate fluid, organic forms through physical manipulation and digital collaging, then translate these in the studio using stencils—scraping and filling paint to create hard-edged shapes that emphasize acrylic's plastic-like quality against raw wood and canvas.

Many works are made of stacked wood panels, forming sequences where each panel acts as a beat in a larger rhythm. Color arrangements and spatial relationships create patterns that feel abstracted and syncopated rather than geometric and predictable.

The exposed materials play an active role. Wood grain brings its own natural rhythm and texture, while paint mixed with sand reads as soft, tactile, and distinctly artificial. This contrast reinforces the work's physical presence as objects rather than illusions.

The result is part design, part puzzle, and part improvisation—compositions that feel both deliberate and discovered.
